Dear Urban Gospel Artist, 

I know it must be heart-wrenching at times to see fellow musicians, doing ungodly music and receiving all the accolades, all the love, all the awards, all the support. It's even worse when you have fellow believers, Pastors etc showing them love and support but they refuse to do same for your ministry. You see all these things and you sometimes wonder if you are in the wrong field, you start to contemplate switching lanes yourself and doing ungodly music. Afterall, you can sing better, you can rap better so why not?

We've all been there before trust me, I've been there and still go through that phase sometimes. I see all them DJs playing ungodly music. Getting gigs on radio and tv stations, winning awards, DJin at events etc and yes it's crossed my mind to switch lanes but like David did, I encourage myself in the Lord. (1 Sam 30:6)

You see, what we do, even though it's entertainment, is for a very much different purpose. They do it to win applause and awards, we do it to win souls......even if it's just ONE soul. And you must always remember this, if not you will be swayed by all these distractions. The moment you start focusing on numbers rather than souls, know that the enemy is at work.

The Bible says in John 10:10, the devil comes to kill, steal and destroy. Trust me, he doesn't care about the unsaved, he cares more about YOU and he wants to kill your dream, steal your vision and destroy your passion. Don't let that be you.

Be strong, be confident, be focused and don't let these things distract you from what you've been called to. Matthew 7:13 says broad is the gate and wide is the road that leads to hell and many are on it, but narrow is the gate to Heaven......and that's the road you are on. Stay on it.
